Quick hose question
What is the small hose called that runs from the hood side of the exhaust manifold (1.8T 2002 A4). It's quite small, and is wrapped (high temp?). It runs under the exhaust manifold and connects on the right on the engine underneath the exhaust manifold. It's only about 9 inches long or so.
Anyways, mine is broken, and I can't figure out what it is called. Is it the EGR?

I'm soory but I have no idea what you're talking about when you say "hood side". If you are unable to post a pic, try describing it's location using this picture (a pic I used before to detail where I replaced my 3.5mm vac lines, in red):
It's that red vacuum line you have labelled above on the right. Sorry for the confusion! Mine is a small hose covered in a fabric. I'm assuming it has to be high temp because it is right under the exhaust manifold?
What is the best way to replace that? Find my own high temp hose? Audi part?Silicone tubing?
Thanks!

Ah, yea. The stock vac lines are all covered in a cloth like material. They're rubber and crack over time due to the high heat our engine bays deal with.
Google 3.5mm silicone hose to find some vendors and buy about 15' to 20' to replace ALL of the hose that you can see. DEFINITELY go silicone over the stock stuff (which you can get from the dealer if you want), it will resist heat, cracking and crushing way better than OEM. When you do it, just destroy the one time use clamps that hold the existing hoses on and use zipties with the new ones. I did that and it works fine.
I bought mine from hosetechniques. Lots of colors and the price was competitive.

ok, thanks a lot. I'm quite new to these engines. Haven't had much time to snoop around the engine bay since I bought it. Does it have to be 3.5 mm, or would the imperial size closest to 3.5 mm work as well?
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
