Rear Tail light relay???
I have a B6 1.8T Quattro, a weird noise is coming directly below the back seat of the passenger side. It cannot be the exhaust nor the brakes since the noise comes up even if I just turn the key in "on" position without turning on the engine(also makes noise ewhen engine is on).
We come up with a conclusion that it might be the relay of my tail lights. I recently installed LED stop light without installing resistors(installed it like 3 weeks before this noise). I had LED turn signal for such a long time now(more than a year already). When I replaced the stop light LEDs back to bulbs, the noise is still there. We noticed that all my rear lights, including license plate bulbs flickers when I start the car. And now, the computer warns me that all my rear left lights are all busted even though they are working.
Advice and Solutions would be appreciated!
Thanks!!

Hmm well for one the area the noise is coming from is where ur fuel pump in located. Is the noise a whine cuz if it is your fuel pump is on its way out. And u say your display is saying all your bulbs are out in your left tail light or Just driving light turn light etc. . . Best thing to do is pop ur rear seat out. Just tug on it from a corner and it should pop out. The fuel pump is located underneath there and u should be able to figure out if the noise is coming directly from that area.
+1 on the fuel pump.. My wifes 2002 1.8t is making some noise too from that area. It's deff the fuel pump. Tail lights dont make noise, nor is a relay in that area,, all that is done inside the dashboard. Pull the fuel pump relay, then turn the car to on, I bet your sound goes away. The Fuel filter is located under the passenger rear area and can act like a resonator for sounds that are coming from the pump.
Thanks for the replies......I also posted this problem in another forum and people told me the exact same thing except telling me to try changing the fuel filter first. I Already ordered both fuel filter and fuel pump at ECS but I just e-mailed them regarding the fuel filter, it seems like a fuel filter's type/fitment depends on your VIN# not just the model of the car(according to the fuel filter DIY). I think I'm gonna go ahead and try installing the fuel filter first and if it doesn't fix my problem, I'm gonna go ahead and install my fuel pump. Hopefully its only the fuel filter so it wouldn't cost me that much. Do you guys know any other website or store that I can buy affordable parts for our car?? I currently live in Southern California(LA) and don't really know any stores or shops that is reliable.
