Default Recommended Oil Filter

Hello, Gents

I'm back again with a really easy one this time. I have a 2004 A4 1.8T. I've been changing the oil myself, and using the K&N oil filter. I had some work done recently, and the guys there told me not to use that filter anymore. Can anyone advise what filter I should be using? From what I've seen it probably needs to be a MANN, or a MAHLE. I'm not sure which though. I can't find the MANN locally, but I can find the MAHLE. Thanks in advance.

Any of those is OK. I used Mann, Bosch and OEM, no difference. All of them are quite large, and close in size.

Default Thanks

Thanks all for the input. I ended up going to Napa, and getting a MANN filter. Hopefully this will make the guys at the shop happy. I've got to get it back in now for a coolant leak. The fun never ends.

The dealership will lie to you. Example: 2 years ago my front brake pads HAD to be replaced. Im still driving on them, and no grinding...

use a mann, also use the factory upgraded filter. Earlier 1.8t's had sludge issues so the factory made a upgraded large filter to remedy the problem, we use this filter in all 1.8t applications.

MANN is OEM. way better than the other cellulose fibre filters out there.
