Default Is this the right place for me?

Hi all -

Looks like a great forum for Audi people! Just wanted to make sure I'm in the right place before I start asking questions.

I own a 2004 Cabriolet that was made in July 2003. If I understand the terms correctly, I have a B6? (I hadn't heard of the B terms before this.) I didn't know whether to come here or go to the general tech section.

Also, I didn't see a place specifically for Cab owners. Is that correct?

Thanks!

Hi again ... So, I have a 2004 A4 Cab, 3.0 Quattro, automatic, loaded except for nav.

There's a tapping or rattling sound in the front end. It sounds a little closer to the left side than right. It starts on acceleration, getting louder and faster as I accelerate.
I've been to the dealer three times for this. First they said they can't hear it, and then finally "fixed" it.

First visit, 1/31/07 - Tech replaced intake manifold, then found "another noise." Tech verified A/C high-pressure hose is out of support. Tech resecured the bracket.
I get the car back - noise came back within a week. I ignored it.

Second visit, 7/12/07 - Tech verified "no abnormal engine noises, no abnormal brake noise." (The brakes squeal, too.)
Picked up the car after hours - noise is still there!

Third visit, 7/26/07 - Mounting bracket for A/C line detached. Tech reclipped line to proper mounting.
Picked up the car after hours - noise is still there.

7/31/07 - Warranty ends.

The car has had the rattle every day since then.
As for the squealing brakes (LOUD!), the dealer says it's normal for Audis.

I love love love my car, but i'm afraid I won't be able to sell it in a year or so with that rattle under the hood.

Comments?
Thanks!

First: It is not normal for any cars breaks to squeal unless they are full on race brakes, That could mean you need new pads and the dealer is trying to get you to run them long enough to dmage your rotors so they can charge you for those too.

As for the other noise you speak of I'm not sure what to tell you, it could just be a loose hose or something in your suspension possibly.

the issues were reported while under warranty, so if they are ongoing they should still cover it under warranty as it's still the same claim.

Really? That's good to know!~

BTW, I figured out that the rattle sounds a bit like a woodpecker tapping on a tree.
