Rough Idle
Hey guys,
I've got a 04 1.8t quattro A4 that idles rough when I'm at a red light, stop sign, etc. I've been browsing the site and have seen a few post that are saying that the vacuum tubes get cracked often on these cars and that is usually the culprit. Sounds like a pretty straight forward answer to me but here's the kicker. I am currently in Detroit, Michigan finishing out an internship. (I'm heading home friday 7/5) Will I be able to make it through the back and forth of heading to work for 4 days then the 7 hour drive home on Friday, or is this a problem that I need to take care of ASAP?
EDIT: Just remembered that every so often during the idling the check engine light will start to flash. I know this is code for a misfire but once i start driving again the light stops flashing. Could this issue be caused by the issue mentioned above or is it a separate issue?
I also was looking around my engine bay and noticed this (attached pic), I do not know the name of it, but it has a hole in it and looks really beat up. Can someone point me in the right direction of ordering this part?
Thanks,
Dylan

Audi A4 B6 Fixing Common Vacuum Leaks (2002-2008) | Pelican Parts DIY Maintenance Article
After changing this one check valve out my engine still idled rough so i ended up taking it to a garage. The problem ended up being a part within the vacuum system but under my intake manifold.
