Secondary airflow malfunction
Hi all,
Just before my warranty expired, my CEL went on. I took it to the dealer, who diagnosed that the secondary airflow pump had seized. They replaced the pump and the blown fuse that resulted. That was about 6 months ago.
A month ago, the CEL went on again. I had a scan done that revealed code P0411 (Secondary Air Injection Incorrect Flow). I cleared it and drove around for another 3 weeks before it came back on with the same code.
Any chance that this repair might be covered under the previous work that was done on the SAIS? I really dislike my dealer and would like to avoid returning to them, but am willing to do so if there is a decent chance that the repair might be covered based on the previous work. Any opinions?
Thanks!

So I ended up taking it to an indy Euro-specialist mechanic. Apparently, this shop doesn't have the diagnostic tool needed to force the SAIS in the "cold starting" mode. Is this pretty typical among non-dealers?
So without the tool, they were basically checking one thing, starting the car, eliminating one part from being faulty, then waiting a couple of hours for the car to cool down so they could repeat the process.
They ended up finding a very small crack in the vacuum line, replaced it for $120 , and sent me on my way. And now, a couple of weeks later, the CEL is back on. I'm guessing the same scan code, though i haven't actually scanned it yet.
My question now is -- does it sound like this mechanic knows what he's doing? Or am I better off taking it somewhere else?

I have the exact same same code
"16795 - Secondary Air Injection System: Incorrect Flow Detected
P0411 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - MIL ON"
Check your vacuum lines. I did and found one of them to be cracked so I went to the dealership and bought some vacuum line and clips (only cost 17 bucks Canadian). Now I just have to switch it which is not hard to do.
In your case you'll have to scan it again to be sure it's the same issue and if it is then maybe the mechanic either missed it or there is more than one crack OR he didn't even do the work and just cleared your codes. Either way, check all those little hoses snaking their way around your engine and if one of them is cracked, chances are, that's the cause of your CEL. Do it yourself and see if the CEL light comes off over time.
Good luck
