Shifting tips please
Diesel FTW!!! Yea you'll be shifting a lot earlier than gas 1.8t's. Feel around when you're driving cuz shifting varies from one car to another and not to mention that every driver has their own style of driving. My truck can shift as early as 1300rpms. I wish I had a TDI A4 so I settled with a Cummins
^^^Oh ok. I drove a 1.9 Jetta and I remembered that it was from 4-4.5k I couldn't quite remember. Like I said there's not really a wrong or right time to shift (of course when you're using common sense) so w/e suits your driving style and economical preferences. I don't know what diesel is in Europe but if its anywhere close to what I'm paying you wanna get as many mpg's as you can.
adrnlnlvr: the diesel engines and gas engines are soooo different I don't know where to start with. The combustion method is way different (we don't know what spark plugs are) and due to the difference in compression we can achieve ungodly amounts of torque and vast fuel economy. If the government wasn't such an *** we'd be saving lots of bucks by driving diesels. I'm getting about 28mpg's with my I-6 turbo diesel truck that weighs like 10,000 lbs when I can only get 24 mpg's out of my 3400 lb A4.
