Default should i buy??!!

hey guys, new here,

i'm looking at buying a 2004 Audi A4 1.8t quattro, it has 150,000 miles on it, mostly highway, it had the timing belt replaced at 95,000, brakes at 120,000 and fuel pump at 135,000. He is asking $7000 for it. i'm sure there is something i'm forgetting..

anyways, let me know what you guys think? is it a good deal?

thank you,
coulter

IMO, that's way too much dough for that high mileage. It'll also be due for another timing belt in 1-2 years depending on how much you drive.

I agree. 7k is too much. Are there any mods or other major work done that you didnt mention? Is it auto or stick?

way too high. Unless there are some major mods I wouldn't pay more than $5k for that mileage. Tbelt will run you $1k, being Quattro I assume it is a manual. Clutch could be ready to go at any time, I had mine done at 160k and it was shot with mostly highway miles on it for the last 80k. Figure another $1k minimum.

Now if he tells you there is an aftermarket turbo and a chip in it and he can show you receipts for them then it is a while new story. New turbo and tune run at least $2k and up to $5k

Good luck!

No there are no other mods. He says it's worth that much because it is the premium package. Cold weather package, and all the upgraded goodies inside and the premium wheels.
It is a automatic tranny. With the sport mode.

Assuming everything is in good condition I would only pay 4 maybe 4500 depending on condition.

To give you an idea I bought my 02 a4 b6 for under 5500 and it was clean, brand new chip, 92k miles and the tbelt/water pump just replaced. Some people just don't want to let it go for a reasonable price. You may have to keep looking

Edit: I talked about the clutch but I overlooked that you said it's auto

I think it kbb's for around 4500-5k. It's my brother in law selling it. I don't know why he thinks it's worth so much.

Agree with all the others, 7k is too high. It'd be a buyer in the neighborhood of around $4200-$4500 still may be a little high too. I doubt someone will take that much off their asking price though. Never hurts to ask.
