Default Spark plug gaping

I just replaced the spark plugs on my '04 A4 3.0 with new NGKs.The spark plugs came with a gap of 0.040 inches but the racomended gap for this car is 0.044. I checked the gap of the old spark plugs (also NGKs) and it was @ 0.040 inches, so I put in the new spark plugsw/o gaping them. Should I do the job over and open up the gap??Does it make any difference??

You should have whatever is recommended in your manual. The gap needs to be the correct size for a proper burn. To small and you dont get enough spark and to big it gets blown out
