Default Speeding up the 1.8TQ

I am looking for ways to speed up my 1.8TQ without causing harm to my engine, anyone got any ideas? Does the APR Chip hurt the engine? and are there any other less expensive ways

chip with an upgraded DV definitely gives you the most bang for your buck. Turbo and injectors, maybe an FMIC and an upgraded tune for more power afterward. there should be a sticky or a guide around here somewhere.

Any tune from a reputable company, APR for instance, is relatively safe for your engine. Of course anytime you are pushing your engine you are going to have some additional wear and tear but you should be OK as long as you keep up on the maintenance.

i was told that the 1.8 has forged internals, and it you can push it pretty far without doing damage.

Read the FAQ sticky in the B5 subforum - the 1.8T info in there will apply to the B6 1.8T as well.

Internals are good for about 300whp. You really dont have much to worry about when going to a chip for the stock turbo. Not going to be pushing the motor anywhere near its limits.

Like others have said, the APR ECU upgrade is a great mod. Without hurting your engine. But remember to replace your stock diverter valve.

don't get the splitter, stick with a straight DV. I agree with everything above, a chip (APR or GIAC) and DV will give the the most bang (and most satisfying) for your buck.

It's probably a waste of money. If the design on the B6 is anything like the B5, the intake is designed as a CAI... The fresh air is sucked in from outside the engine bay. The design is very well done.

It's almost identical. That's part of the reason I referred the OP to the FAQ post in the B5 forum - this info is also in there. OP, please read that post and then let us know if you have specific questions or need clarification of any points contained there.
