Stuttering on take off (not trans)
This sounds like the exact issue that I was trying to figure out on a member of my clubs car. It feels like it's slipping a little bit between gears and does shutter when you get on it. If you find out what this is let me know so I can tell him what his issue might be.
Sorry for the confusion I had a kid screaming.
Ok when all warmed up and starting off from a dead stop- once it hits 1600rpm to 2000rpm it whants to jump like a rapid fire hiccups. if I punch it past 2000rpm then shift all is smooth. this occours every time in that rpm range if slowly accelerating, also while crusing and the rpm is in the 1600-2000rpm it spikes a bit consistantly but no engine light, no obvious jumping or stalling. It shifts smoothly so I know its not the trans. (In automatic it shifts close to the 2000 rpm range so it tends to be noticible). I'm replacing 2 desolved in-line check valves today that I just noticed and will check the coil packs as well (this started about 3,500miles after I changed the spark plugs.
This is my first, thanks for the info and I will give update later.

im guessing automatic
Im guessing this a front wheel drive CVT transmission. There is a TSB to repair that exact issue online. Among several other issues with that crap *** transmission.
x2... i just remembered about the TSB on my way driving home today. if you have a cvt, there was a problem with the transmission valve body. If this is the issue, it sounds like you're going to be paying for it unless you have an extended warranty of some kind. please update us and let us know what the problem was when you find out
