A noise starts when I turn the engine on and I am suspecting it to be coming from AC/Heater components because of the source of the noise..its like trrrr kind of noise which starts as straigh and last about 15-20 seconds and than becomes like trr trr trr and it goes like this for another 30-45 seconds..this repeats if the heat is on during my drive..before I take it somewhere and get ripped off I like to know if anyone has experienced this and know s the issue..I also have a mileage problem and I seem to only get slightly over 200 miles per full tank..when I first bought it 2 months ago I was getting around 300 miles with full tank..any ideas? Appreciate any insight I can get!

If you turn off the heater, does the noise go away? If it does, then you're correct. You may have a bad fan, or maybe some debris caught in the fan.

As to the mileage problem...do you live in a climate where it's much colder now than it was two months ago? I know I do!

You will definitely get poorer gas mileage in the winter than in the summer, but other things could also be affecting it: a bad coolant temperature sensor, fouled spark plugs just to name a couple.

Do you always use premium gas, at least 91 octane? If not, that could cause lower mileage. Are you doing more city driving than highway driving than two months ago?

If you don't have maintenance records, you might want to cover your bases and replace the spark plugs, fuel filter and air filter. That would be a good place to start.

 

First of all thank you for the welcome and thank you for your help on this issue with my car. After reading your reply the only think remains to be done is to do a tune up I guess as I am still living in the same place, same commute,using 93 (can't find 91 anywhere) and the climate is not that cold yet and it should not make this much difference I think. I was just worried that this could be a major issue.As it comes to noise the debris kind of make sense and hopefully I can find someone I can trust and get it checked sometime this weekend. So, the noise only appears when the heater is on? If you press the "off" button, it goes away?

 

jdahlen is right on the gas mileage. Swap ur spark plugs fuel filter and air filter. That would be the best place to start.

 

That is correct..I do not remember hearing this noise when heater is not on..it feels like it does something routinely and something is stuck in the fan..

 

those clicks u hear are the ecu matching your driving habits. Plus vents opening up in the thermostat.
