Default Transmission Leak

I was getting my oil changed yesterday (switched over to LiquiMoli 5w40 btw and I seriously felt better performance when I picked the car up) and I asked the mechanic to check the transmission fluid while he was doing the oil change, he said he could not check it because he needed a scanner to do so...anyway he said the the rear seal was a "little wet".

Now my transmission is not slipping at all, but I do want to make sure the fluid is good. Is there anything I should do? Should I replace the filter and fluid? I searched some other threads here and the transmissions seem to be very $$$.

Any help/advice would be appreciated...

So i think I will follow what you did, have the seal replaced, and have the fluid and filter changed, just to be safe, thanks for the help...

let me know if that fixes the leak. I'm sure I have the same problem. I also went in for an oil change and noticed some transmission fluid on the rear of the transmission.

If you buy the parts online, please send the link. I can't seem to figure out which is the correct part.

I am not 100% sure on the autos but at least for the manual, Audi claims it's lifetime transmission fluid (to keep advertised cost of maintenance down?). I replaced mine at 75k miles. Autos are probably more difficult to DIY so perhaps you should just pay them to do it.
