transmission problem
ok the other day i was driving and my car seemed like it got stuck in 3 gear. my car in an auto/tip. it felt like putting your foot on the gas and pressing it and then taking it off repeatedly. when i saw my rpm's the needle was moving back and forth. what can be the problem.
check your fluid levels to see if you are low and also check the condition of the fluid. is it really dark or black? check for leaks on the transmission top or bottom. after that check if your battery is in good condition or not the volts with the car off sitting should be at least 12.6 volts. some times a bad battery can effect how the tranmission recieves power for the soleniods to fire off. checking things other than that would require a good scan tool to check for and diagnostic trouble codes in the either the engine or transmission.
ok well i know this is really stupid but my transmission has been leaking for a very long time ow i would say about 6 months ago but its not leaking that bad its just a few drops here and there can that be the cause of my car shifting weird?
Run the codes thru VAG of course... but if thats not an option, check your turbo/intake hoses and make sure they are all tightly secured. a loose turbo inlet hose will easily drop your power like you're discribing. Also I would check your coilpacks. take them out while the car is off and see if any of them are burnt or have a weird ammount of oil on them.. if so, replace for 30 bucks thru dealer. easy DIY job
