vent smell
2 weeks ago my timing chain tensioner went. I just replaced the tensioner chain and gaskets for the valve cover and the tensioner. 2 days later i changed my oil on ramps with 5w-30 mobile 1 with a new filter. since all of this has been done i get this "buring smell" at an idle. once you start to drive the car for a few minutes and then you stop at a stop sign or red light i wont get the smell its only when you drive it hard (shifting at 5 rpms) today i drove the car for 3 miles stopped at a local bank with the car running left my brother in the car came back told me he didnt smell anything. When i drove in a very messy parking lot with snow and salt etc after sitting for a few a few seconds thats when the smell started. I shut down the car and came back out of the store started it up let it warm up for a minute no smell at all came back over to my house let it set no smell at all. its only every once in a while but daily. any thoughts on might be making the smell. The coolant level is just right i cannot see any leaks at all when i did my oil i didnt see any leaks the oil filter isnt leaking.
Few other things the timing belt kit was done water pump timing belt tensioner thermostat ECS Plus kit i had the heatercore replaced in december and i have never had a smell like this come out of the vents. it all started after i changed my oil. after some research people are saying my coolant flange may be bad or there might be another small leak somewhere but i cannot seem to find any the car doesnt have any check engine lights on right now and still performs very well. Any thoughts on this would be helpful thank

okay thought it through last night when i changed out my oil filter the extra oil from where the oil filter sits when i pulled the filter the extra oil came out and dripped down on the side of the engine
therefore when the car heats up the oil is buring on the engine block. add snow into the picture you get the smell more. like i said its only when you start it up and drive it for the fiirst ten minutes and you stop you will get the smell more then you drive again and then you wont get the smell. after talking to people at a local grauge the said that is what is giving you the buring smell being the smell started after i changed the oil filter.

You Could have a small oil leak at the cam cover and it burns and your heater pulls in the fumes at a stop. I had the same thing if you think that is what it is let me know and I can send you the info I have to fix it just let me know were to send it
