Hey guys new to the forums, Just wondering what the best way to improve the HP of my 02 B6, it seems like it isnt producing alot, I'm new to turbo engines, so what would be the best air intake/filter?

Replacing the stock intake and filter generally nets tiny gains if any. Depending on how much more power you're looking to make, there are a whole list of options to choose from, but usually the reason people give up on the stock intake has nothing to do with power and everything to do with plumbing. If you're looking for a small to medium boost of power, you can get it with software alone, or for a little more power, software + injectors. Lots more power requires a larger turbo of some sort, which requires a host of other mods to go with it. (Intercooler, exhaust, injectors, built valvetrain and/or bottom end, etc.) Speed is money, how fast do you want to go (broke)?

Ok thanks for the reply man! I dont want to spend a ton of money by any means, I am used to driving a 08 Honda Acoord v6 which has about 280, and then going to my audi its like a huge change, the engine feels sluggish.

I also just got a P0300 code, I checked it and it said random cylinder misfire, so I am guessing my plugs are dead. It wasnt a very specific code at all. Wish it would have maybe told me what cylinder or something.

Thanks for the help!

For a bit more power to wake it up without spending ridiculous money, I'd look at one of the software + injectors options. Several of the major tuners (APR, Revo, GIAC, etc) make good ones. Software alone ($4-500) will net +30-40 HP, software + injectors ($8-$900) is more like +60 HP. To run either safely long-term, the stock diverter valve should be replaced with an upgraded unit ($40-185, depending on which one you select). Any more power than that, and you're looking at fairly big money.

I personally want to do the APR Stage 1+ and either their R1 DV or maybe the Synchronic DV on my car. I don't feel like it's "sluggish" stock, but I know I'd enjoy the extra power. I'd love to go beyond that, but anything involving a bigger turbo is going to be probably $3K+ in parts alone, as you can't really just slap a big turbo on there and call it good.

Obviously, before you do any mods, you'll want to solve whatever that misfire is and be sure you have an otherwise solid base to start from. Make sure all the required maintenance is done and everything's in good condition and you'll be good to go.
