Buttons IMO are the least of your problems, depending on mileage the timing belt should have been done around 70K miles, make sure is Quattro not that CVT crap, not salvage, look under the bonnet and check for leaks of coolant on the firewall side (closest to the passeger side if you have the 1.8 or closest to the driver side if you have the 3.0) or previous leaks, check all the lights for function, a bad light could be from a burnt fuse to improper wiring done. Check the cluster for no lights on and steady gauges, other than that is your standard check around and ask questions to the previous owner.

Look at the headlights when will be high humidity. In many B6 headlights become foggy.
Check speakers and sunroof for annoying noises.

i dont realy know whats the problem with those headlights.
One of my headlight is foggy after every raining or whole winter. It can get fully foged in one minute.
My lamps are very weird. Even fog lights can become foggy.

Check all gauges, accessories, and features to make sure they work. If you can run it up on a lift, check the bottom for damage, leaks, etc. I test drove one and found evidence of front end damage when I really inspected the engine bay. On another, my indie inspected it on a lift and pointed out some panel problems probably due to an accident + it had different size front and rear tires. I walked away from both.
