I never really noticed it till now, but what is this part and what's its purpose? I found a pic online of my exact same car (2002 A4 1.8T) In my car there's just the bracket that holds that part, but the part is completely gone. My car drives fine and no CEL is on. I'm just curious as to what this is, why it would have been removed, what it does, and if it causes any damage with it being gone.

Then this makes me more confused.... My ABS light isn't on and my ABS works normally. Can anyone explain this?

 

If it's just a bracket then the ABS will still work, but it will just flop around.

 

The part inside the bracket isn't there. Along with those 2 hoses. It's like completely gone. I'll have to look closer this weekend.

 

i have the 3.0l of the 03 and have the same space with the bracket but nothing is in there. You find out anything?

 

Not yet. I was hoping someone would give me some insight. If it is for ABS I'm wondering why my ABS still works then. And why this would have been removed.
