Whirring Noise 2003 A4 Avant 3.0
All-
My 2003 Audi A4 Avant 3.0 Quattro auto transmission with 80k miles has developed a whirring noise. Seems to be coming from the front of the car, driver side. The "whirring" changes pitch with speed and seems to start around 20mph, and the increase or decrease in pitch is dependent on car speed, not rpm or gas vs coasting.
My first thought was wheel bearing, but there doesn't seem to be a change in the noise level when turning left vs right. It's headed into the shop tomorrow, but am hoping to get some thoughts on what it is/could be. Your help is appreciated!
Thanks,

Thanks,
i have the same noise as you and what i believe it is is the fuel filter/fuel pump. I had my fuel filter replaced recently and after it started making the noise so i went back to the shop and they said it may be the fuel pump that is going bad.
yea you have a good point there. I stopped going there after i got my fuel filter changed, cuz the dipstick holder broke well they said it was "broken" and it just fully broke when they looked at it which cost me 80$ to fix which i dont have any thoughts of having a broken dipstick holder all the times iv looked at my oil level so that pissed me off. Just need to find another place thats got good prices, all the other german places charge up the ****
