Why cant a put 19" on my car?

my mechanic told me putting 19's on my whip would do damage 2 the transmission, i gotta 03 a4 1.8tq with 16" stock. rims, i wanna put 19"s can it be done and what are the consequences

umm, i and a million other people have 19's and i havent had or heard of any problems.....anyone else?

There wouldnt be any transmission problems only if you tried to put on two different sets of wheels say 19' & 18's https://www.audiforums.com/m_784359/tm.htm (READ ME). With time if you keep two different sizes on, your quatrro will phok up, they should sit at the same height it doesnt matter how wide but same height is a must.

what wheels you lookin into?

I have never heard of there being any problems besides maybe your brake pads wearing down quicker. There's A4's with 20's out there. Keep the rim size the same all arouund. Althoughnot necessarly the rim width if you're going for the staggered look.

do u have 2 put spacers before rim?
