The wierdest thing happend to me in my A4...
So,
I was driving along down a city street in my 2002 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T. I stopped at a stop sign...slowly gained up to about 5mph, and I decided to just punch the throttle for a thrill... So I did. BUT, right when i gunned the throttle, the throttle got stuck and the RPM's started climbing to the 6000rpm range. I tried to brake fast, but the RPM's kept climbing as if the throttle was completely stuck. The whole car was still accelerating while I was slamming on the brake pedal (Not even touching the throttle pedal). Eventually, the car came to an ABRUPT halt and I put it into Park. A jerky halt actually. Then I heard a sound that sounded like gears grinding, or belts grinding, something along that matter, it did that for about 10 seconds, then it went away. The engine was just idling normally in Park after that. I drove it roughly 1 mile to my final destination with no problems after the first incident.
Does anybody know what just happened? Is it something I should be concerned about?
Thanks in advance,
-Steve

I'm not going to eliminate the possibility, because now I do personally think the pedal did get jammed there, just because it has been working fine since.
Lets say the pedal did get jammed in the floorboard, still what was that grinding noise?
(BTW this is an automatic with Tiptronic)

Myst420,
I did shift it into park while the revs were up at around 4000. The car kept pulling forward and I was about to hit a parked car, I had to do all I could to make the thing stop.
Medniteoyl,
I don't think it was the turbo, i've never heard a noise like it before. Why would the turbo make a noise like that?

I was kinda half joking about the turbo... But, if it got over-revved and oil was low, it could make noise..
Gear grinding for 10 secs or so after the car stopped wouldn't be the parking pin... could have been the torque convertor... your Audi have CVT?

I just bought this used about a month back and honestly I don't know if it is CVT or not. It is a 5spd Auto where I can put it into sport mode (S) and into a manual paddle shift mode (No clutch, just thumb buttons for switching gears.)
Is that a CVT then?
Is that a CVT then?
