Wiper Arm Removal Help :(
I'm upgrading to the aero wipers on my B6, however I can't get the damn hex nut off. I've removed the plastic caps, but no matter how hard I try, i can't seem to remove those hex nuts! It feels like they're welded on. Any suggestions? I've been at it for an hour now, and i'm so frustrated. Any help at all please?
Cheers,
Cheers,
Anyone?!
I've tried with every single wrench I have, and yes I am twisting it the right way, I just can't get them to budge. It's at the point where the wrench is grinding into the nut. I would take it to the mech's to just get them to do it, but I'm so strapped for cash at the moment, I'd rather not pay for labour for something that I know is a DIY.

No special tool needed. what the bottom of the bolt you're trying to remove looks like has little slots around its circumference in contact with where the bolt connects on to, (and that surface as slots too) so you can imagine that youre trying to unbolt it and it has friction from the bolt being settled into slots. ill draw you a picture give me a minute
If you are talking about the hex niuts that hold the arm on the stud..... I've had mine off about 3-4 times in the last 20 months. They were a bitch the first time, probably b/c it came that way from the dealer. You could try hitting the nut with a brass hammer ( try not to hit the arm).
OR you could try (BE ******' CAREFUL) using a torch to heat the nut.
You're going to find probably the REAL hard part is trying to get the arm itself off the stud. You can buy a simple "Puller" from princess auto or some place for $13. I found that out the hard way....after I cracked my windshield

It took alot of force to get the nuts off but they did eventually yield - just keep at it, and try some penetrating oil if you haven't already.
Like Bret said, the bad news is getting the arm off the spindle is the hard part. I didn't have a puller so I slowly worked it back and forth many times to work it free. Was a total PITA.
(Ironically I was removing them to align them back to the proper rest position, undoing the sloppy job done by the guy who installed my new windshield, which in turn was being replaced due to another idiot who cracked it installing the bluetooth microphone with my Pioneer system - a great example why I never like letting anyone else touch my car
