While repairing broken glove box hinge in a 2004 Cabriolet, I noticed two wires routed through the hinge into the lid. One of the wires was broken. Does anyone know what the wires are for and whether I need to repair the wiring. Thanks for any help.

It is not for a light: no light in the lid itself.

 

Just checked my A4 B6 1.8T glovebox and no wires routed into the hinge lid at all.... I wonder if some had fitted something themselves like a cut out switch, charging wire, dashcam wires or such? I can't see Audi feeding wires through a moving hinge/hinge bracket...

 

I have the same issue what's the twin wire for please

 

Just found out.... Central locking actuator for when the roof is down...
