Default 06 Audi A4 CEL codes p2099 and p2181

I have a 2006 A4 2.0T that came up with code p2099 about 2 weeks ago. I looked into everything and it pointed to my DV. I went and bought the new DV and before putting it on, had them run a code check again. It came up with 2 codes: p2099 (turbo/supercharger under boost) and p2181 (cooling system performance). I changed the DV and the codes went off by that afternoon after driving for a bit. Now, 5 days later, both codes are back on there but I do not have any turbo boost loss this time at all. Last time I did and it was corrected after the new DV was put on. The light came on last night when I was driving home and turned the heater on. Car is not overheating and running within operable temperature as it always has. Is there a part/sensor that could be causing both of these codes to simultaneously come on?

Hi,

My car is actually currently in the shop with this same issue. Light came on - had it run @ AutoZone and it showed p2181 (coolant system error), and said either a failing radiator, water pump, or ECT sensor (there are 2 apparently). Thought it was just the sensor because the car was running beautifully, until a week later when the car had a really hard start and all the pistons misfired, and it spilled some coolant. We brought it in to a shop up the street, he got the coolant system code, the piston code, and a boost system issue code (not sure if it was the p2099). He called a few mechanics and no one could figure out the boost system issue, so we brought it to Audi. They said our thermostat isn't functioning and to start there, said that was causing the boost system error message as well.

It's currently at a private Audi/VW shop getting a new thermostat, sensors and I'm having them do my front brakes and timing belt while it's in. I think the faulty thermostat is a big issue (from what I have read) with this year. I'm pretty frustrated because replacing a thermostat isn't really "routine" maintenance and I've had nothing but problems with my car in just under 3 years of ownership. FWIW, my car is about to hit 77k mileage-wise.
