Default 10k Miles Between Oil Changes?

Hello all. I'm new to the forums and have been very impressed with all the polite and helpful information the members are giving. So, here's my question. My boss drove my car a couple weeks ago (it's a 2007 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro, Automatic). I bought it with 27,000 miles on it, and am now at 34,000. He saw the little sticker that said that my last oil change was when I bought the car and freaked out on me. I told him that the dealership had told me 10,000 miles between oil changes. He said I was wrong, so I made an appointment with the dealership, who called to tell me they were canceling the appointment, as I wasn't in need of it for another 3,000 miles. Should I be changing it in between 10k mile services? Or should I wait it out? Also, what other things come with a 10k mile service, besides an oil change? Seems like a rip-off for $600-700 for the service if it's just an oil change, tire rotation and fluid top-off. Thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing some advice from people who are fully aware of Audi's service needs!

You can find the maintenance schedule here: http://www.bentleypublishers.com/tech/audi

Audi calls for oil changes every 10k miles. Many people here like to change their oil every 5k.

I use Mobil 1 0W-40 every 5000 miles. The scheduled maintenance cost me $650 or $750 and it was rolled into the monthly payments. I don't pay anything extra for the scheduled maintenance. Great deal.

5-6k miles is a good period.

No you dont have to have the dealer do the work, but make damn sure you get the proper documentation for all work done for warranty purposes.

I bought the maintnance package too so all mine is covered. If Audi says 10K miles for an oil change then so be it. My car is CPO until 100K mikes so **** them if the engine fails. Im gonna trade it right at 100K as i'm a warranty *****.

You would be very surprised how far mobile 1 oil would take you. Synthetic is very good stuff and I don't think AUDI would risk warrantying failed engines because of 10K oil changes.
