2006 A4, Headlight Bulbs Changed.
Hello... i need to change my headlight bulbs (Low Beams) which on non-HID. i was hoping to find some input on how complicated it would be to change it and what would be the best kind of bulb to use. please help
I just changed my passenger side one for the second time (I beat the bulb up pretty badly the first time). It's not too hard once you know what you're looking for. Audi says to remove the bumper, but I don't have a lift and didn't really want to scratch up my bumper cover, so I did it from behind the housing.
For the passenger side, I searched the web for air intake kit instructions to learn how to move the air box aside. This only took about 5-10 minutes and gives you enough access from behind the headlight assembly to get your hand in and out. There are three spring clips--one at the bottom and one each at about 10 and 2 o'clock. The little notch/prong on the bulb goes at the top, seat it in the bottom clip and then push until the top two snap in.
On the driver side, you may have to temporarily relocate the power steering fluid reservoir, but I haven't done that one.
I just used pretty standard H755 bulbs from the local auto parts store. If I were replacing both, I might consider a brighter, fancier bulb, but with those come shorter lifespans and I'm not sure I'd want to do this job often!
