2006 audi a4 reliability/problems
Hello audiforums! I'm fairly new to audis but my friend used to have one (not to mention he would always be dishing out money for repairs)
I am in the market for a new car. I have 14grand to spend and I've found a 2006 audi a4 2.0t for 14grand out the door.
Its got about 60k miles on it and it looks like its in good condition.
I've heard rumors that audis normally have lots of rpoblems and repairs and something always comes up after another. So because of this I am seriously debating whether I should go acura tl or audi a4.
Are there any things I should look out for on this car? Any common problems on the a4's?
Any helpful comments would be appreciated.

That seems pretty cheap for a 2006 even with 60k miles. If your choices are Audi and Acura, it's not even a contest--get the Audi.
I'll let others chime in with the things to look for mechanically. Any car with 60k miles on it comes with the possibility of a few repairs. Mine only had 35k and I've replaced the glove box door/shock, the trunk latch and the window safety switch is bad as well. Just minor stuff really.

Read my sticky up top for common uprades and quirks the cars have. If you want a reliable Honda then get the Acura. If you want a more well rounded piece of Germaan Engineering then get the Audi. Auidi may be as reliable as the Acura, just more expensive to have repaired since it's German. I personally have had like 2 minor things wrong at 90K miles now. Its been a good car.
Patel,
You should see the Maintenance History on my 2006 A4 CVT @88k miles (bought it at 8k miles). It is longer than Mike Tyson's rap sheet. Today? $700 for a new fuel pump and filter. Great driving, gas mileage and interior BUT: Be prepared, get any and every warranty available....just sayin', man....
I had an Isuzu Trooper once, and NOTHING ever went wrong, those were the good old days.

The 2.0T isn't really a bad motor.
Few quirks and repairs needed along the way.
But like tomspeller24 says...... aftermarket warranty is recommended because of price of parts and labor.
unless you work for Audi, i would not own one with a warranty.

I bought mine with 20K miles. Right after the factory warranty ran out, I had to have a chip replaced in my CVT tranny. Audi was super cool and covered the issue despite me being out of warranty by two weeks. Repair cost for that would have cost me about $1800. However, I bought the car from Carmax, and I bought their extended warranty (up to 100K miles) and so the repair would have been covered by that even if Audi had not been good about it.
Aside from that, it's been fine and I'm now up to 36K miles on it. Just regular oil changes (synthetic) and it has run like a champ.
