2006 audi (b7) engine noise?
hey guys im looking to buy this audi a4 its really nice certified pre owned and all but when i went to see it today it was making this noise...(video attached) im curious if this is a big problem or just something small the dealer can fix before i buy it. btw the carfax was clean it was regularly maintained and serviced.
How many miles on the car and has the timing belt/water pump been changed? Hard to hear in your video although it didn't sound that different from mine. I did hear what sounded like a squelling noise, but just slightly. Can you narrow down where the sound was coming from?
Hard to tell from the video, but the ticking sounds about normal for a 2.0TFSI. The higher-pitched squealing doesn't sound right, but also doesn't sound that bad. Maybe one of the pulleys the serpentine belt runs on is on its way out? Not sure. I would definitely tell them that's not normal and have them fix it. Better to start out ownership with nothing weird going on.

If it's been maintained, you shouldn't have any more issues than average German cars at that mileage. If not, it will cost you.
