Default 2007 Audi A4 Cooling Fan - P0480

Car has been getting a P0480 several times. The error code says "Intermittent". So, not sure if the problem is the fan itself or the fan module. When the car is started and the A/C is on, the fan on the passenger side comes on, but the one on the drivers side does not. Not sure though if the driver side fan should come on also with the A/C is on or only when engine reaches a certain temp.

Question, if I need to replace the driver side fan, does the lock carrier have to be pulled, or can that fan actually be removed without moving carrier? Looks to be a little tight, but wanted to see if it has been done.

thanks

Connected the VAG to the car and turned on the Fan Control module. Only the small fan on the passenger side came on. But this still doesn't tell me whether the module is bad or the fan is bad. The A4 schematics only show 1 fan motor, so that leads me to believe that these fans are in parallel, but no 100% sure of that either.

Anyone know where the fuse is for the cooling fan on 2007 Audi A4?

Found the fuse in the ECM plenum. Did not have to take it out as 12v should always be available at the connector. So the fuse was good. Decided to buy a new fan assembly. Not a fun job since the front end had to be put in service mode to get the fan out. "Truth in Engineering" leaves a lot to be desired when DIY components like the fan require so much work to replace. Took about 6hrs from start to get the fan assembly out. About 4 to get everything back together. A big tip, remove the top radiator hose and both front tires! All it needed was about an extra 1-1/2 clearance. Anyway, was definitely a fan problem. Both fans came on during the VAG output test and both came on with A/C on. Glad it wasn't a controller.
