Default 2008 2.0T Need Help! Acceleration problems!

Hey all! Just bought a 2008 A4. Love it but of course 2nd day I have it I start having problems. It has 76,000 miles on it BTW. When I accelerate (especially uphill) I get a little stutter in the engine. Yesterday it was really bad and got to where anytime I accelerated while going slow the whole car would shake. I got a solid check engine light. I went to local auto shop and code p0304 came up, which means misfire in cylinder 4 I think. So I read on here that the ignition coils were a problem on these vehicles so I went and got a duralast coil from autozone. When I pulled all the coils out, all of them looked great except #4. #4's tip was brown and looked burnt almost. I put the new one in and put it all back together. Cranked her up and noticed a little ticking noise I had t noticed before (maybe I just missed it before and that's how the engine should sound). Anyway, drove the car for awhile and while it was definitely better, when I put firm acceleration while going uphill there was still a skip in the motor. Anyone have any ideas? Think it's the sparkplug? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I'd change the spark plug too

change the plugs, and call your local audi dealer and see if they will replace all the coils for free (under recall with updated OEM parts).

Definitely check the spark plug, and then put the old coil back in, drive to the dealer, tell them what's wrong (leaving out the part about having put a non-oem part in there) and that you'd like the coils changed by them, no charge, because they are a recall item and should be under warranty for replacement.

Well I called the dealership and asked them if there was a recall on this car about the coils, gave them the vin...and big shock they said this car has never been recalled for the coils. They said that some were and some weren't.

I do believe the newer A4s got the revised coils so you might be out of luck there. Try the spark plug.

coils replacement stopped with 2007's. If 2008's had the issue you could only replace them one at a time if the car was still under warranty

Ok...I'm sooo frustrated!! So I replaced ALL the sparkplugs...still getting the skip. So I have replaced the Coil in valve 4, the sparkplug...what else could be causing this? I am still getting the warning light. I have an appt with audi dealer for Saturaday...but was hoping I could fix it. I hate to dump at least $200 into a car I just bought!! I am already considering selling this thing!

Well I put sea foam in it and now it's running good. Should the check engine light go off on its own? Guess we'll see how long this lasts

It typically will take 50-70 miles for it to clear itself if the issue has been resolved, or you can a) disconnect the battery and have to reprogram your key remote and possibly have to enter a radio code to get the stereo to turn back on; or b) get an obdII scanner at autozone and clear it directly without messing other stuff up. Happy to hear the seafoam worked for you though; love that stuff. What writeup did you follow?
