Default accident

I got into a car accident saturday 3 days after picking up my a4! I was driving along until some moron ran a red light, caused me to swerve, then fled the scene of the accident. I clipped her first. When I swerved I was able to gain control of the car and stop and about 3 seconds later an even bigger moron hit almost head on into my car at about ~20mph. Before I came to a stop I was kind of riding along the curb because I was pushed onto a turning lane in oncoming traffic. My car is in the shop and the adjuster said its going to be 7,400 to fix. I wish I had pictures but I was too pissed off that I was on the receiving end of a hit and run. Has anyone ever gotten to an accident and had repair costs in the ballpark of mine? If so how long until you got your car back? I miss my a4 so much

the body shop would be best suited to estimate how long this repair would take.

sorry to read about your accident.

Agreed. Only the body shop can determine repair time. There is no way anyone can determine how long a car will be in the shop by description or even pictures. No accidents are the same in terms of how much and where the damage is. Try to be patient and all will be fine. Good luck with your repairs.

I should have the car back by next friday(15th)...The shop is really nice it's called bodyworks unlimited for anyone who lives in New York. Now I have to wait to see who's fault it's going to be for insurance, it's funny the woman who caused the accident left and the insurance doesn't even put her in the equation. The witness' who saw confirmed the story too. Thanks for the replies

I can't speak to NY and their stupid "no-fault" laws, but here in GA, an incident like that gets covered under "Uninsured/underinsured motorist" coverage. Generally, but not always, the deductible for that is lower than your collision deductible (what would cover it if it were your fault) and it doesn't go against your insurance premiums as heavily (although, every insurance incident--even comprehensive--counts against you somewhat).

Hope you get it straightened out. I can't believe they didn't have that info before they started fixing your car. Around here, it's generally sorted within a few days (once a police report gets filed if necessary).
