Adding Horsepower

Adding Horsepower
I recently purchases a 2007 2.0T quattro S-line and I'm looking to add some horsepower. I by no means claim to know much about this at all just the basics. I know that I can get a chip that can add some but have no idea where to look for a high quality one that will not have any negative side effects.
Can someone point me in the right direction and also let me know how much I can expect to gain in HP and how much I can expect to spend. My friend just got a Mazda Speed3 and I hate that it is quicker than mine.
Thanks.

1. APR us the most popular due to the swtching ability from the cruise control stalk from a stock program to Performance program at anytime. I have Revo on my GTI and love it. Stage 1 requires no additional items. Stage 2 will require a test pipe / downpipe and air filter is recommended. They do not charge anything extra to go to stage 2 either, just get your supporting parts ang go back for another re-flash.
2. You will never beat a Mazdaspeed3. You might take him from the start with AWD but those cars are sick and will still beat us with stage 2 chipping.
3. You have a nice luxery sedan and it's heavy as hell and will only be moderately quick without a turbo upgrade.

You can always upgrade the turbo, but this means upgrading to a FMIC and a performance clutch. Another option would be to do some mods that reduce weight or unsprung weight to make the car quicker without having to increase power.

The mazdaspeed's are very nice cars. they have the same type of fuel injection (direct injection) and they have 0.3 liters on us. I also believe they have larger turbos that give up alot of low end power for a bit more high end hp (260 on MS3, 280 on MS6). Plus, an AWD system vs a FWD or RWD isn't comparing apples to apples. They have alot less mechanics to go through before their power gets to the ground. Yeah, the MS3 might be a little faster, but honestly... the B7's are so much nicer in every department that it isn't even worth a second thought. (not that i'm downing Mazda, i used to own one)
