Default Any one in Audi sales

I'm about to email Audi of America this same question:
Ill try to keep it simple...

I bought my daughter a 2005.5 A4 with aprox 97,000 milies.

Can an Audi dealer sell the car with that amount of mileage without changing the timing belt?

Thanks,

Rich

Not in sales, but yes they can. Dealer can sell a car in any shape and condition they want. Some states may require the car (if being bought for road use) to pass safety and emissions tests. Same as a dealer does not have to change the oil in the car they are selling no matter how many miles areon it. As a buyer we have to negotiate those repairs/services into the sale or into the price of the car.

To make matters worse changing the timing belt is expensive. The good part is once it is changed you can go another 100k before having to worry about it again.

Yes they can.

Timing belt is not covered under maintenance package. A CPO would cover it but for the A4 2.0 the CPO would expire before the recommended service interval would be reached.

Its should be something you look for BEFORE buying the car
