Audi A4 2.0tdi hard start on half tank
Hello, i just bought a 2008 audi a4 2.0tdi. And it starts rough on low tank, it gets worse and worse the less i have in the tank. Also when i have full tank, it starts fast but still «hard» please help
It can be couple reasons:
I'd recommend you to start with checking Fuel Pump And Filters.
- Fuel System Issues:
- Fuel Filter: A clogged or dirty fuel filter can restrict the flow of fuel to the engine, especially when the tank is low. It's a good idea to check and replace the fuel filter if it hasn't been done recently.
- Fuel Pump: The fuel pump might not be delivering an adequate amount of fuel to the engine. If the pump is failing, it could cause starting issues.
- Air Intake System:
- Air Filter: A dirty or clogged air filter can affect the air-fuel mixture, leading to poor combustion and rough starts. Make sure the air filter is clean or replace it if necessary.
- Glow Plugs (Diesel Engines):
- If your Audi has a diesel engine, check the glow plugs. Faulty glow plugs can cause difficulty starting, especially in colder conditions.
- Injectors:
- Malfunctioning fuel injectors can lead to poor fuel atomization, impacting combustion. Consider having the fuel injectors checked for proper functioning.
- Evaporative Emission System:
- Issues with the evaporative emission system, such as a faulty purge valve, can affect the fuel vapor management and cause starting problems.
- Engine Control Module (ECM) or Sensor Issues:
- Problems with sensors like the crankshaft position sensor or the engine control module can impact the engine's ability to start smoothly.
I'd recommend you to start with checking Fuel Pump And Filters.
