Hi folks,

So my B6 1.9TDI has what sounds like the worn cam lobe/lifter issue. Yet to be confirmed. Looking at upgrading to a B7 anyway but just wondering if anyone knows which engines are known to have this issue and if any are less prone than others.

2.0 are good motors. Just plan on dropping a grand every 75k to 100k for the timing belt replacement. In models before 2008 you also have to watch the cam follower for wear. That is a cheaper item and fairly easy to replace. I hear the 3.0 is pretty solid as well. Not as much umph as the 2.0 with less performance upgrades available.
