Hi all. Just have what might be a silly question. I've been wanting to pick up a small diesel car and Audis have always caught my eye, specifically the A3. Problem is, the only TDIs I can find for sale are 2010 and later. From what I understand, these newer models aren't available with a manual transmission which is something I'd strongly prefer.

Were there TDI A3s/A4s manufactured in North America (specifically Canada, not a big deal if only in the US though) prior to 2010? If so, how early were they made?

I dug around for a while but couldn't find anything on this. Hopefully one of you can help me out.
