ive asked around and any manual transmission out of a b7 should work

 

oh sweet... i have a gve tip trans so if i get a gve manual trans that should be a direct fit. but thats great to know thanks for asking around. i had hit of dead ends when i was trying to figure it out.@nic4571

 

Its not worth it. Unless your talking about buying a junkyard with a manual and swapping everything over.

I mean everything. Pedal, Clutch sensor, wiring harness, brackets, Flywheel, New clutch, transmission, driveshaft, front axles, rear differential, rear axles. Coding.....

I mean your talking about 30 hours worth of work easily..... and every part has to come out of the same car or a car with the same trans code. Because everything has to match.

I agree with it would be more feasible to buy a different car

 

I have swapped trip to 6mt on my 2006 Audi a4 B7. Totally worth it. I did have a crashed 6Mt to reference. Most of the posts regarding rear diff, front axles, etc are correct. The trick with B7's is that there original ECU needs to be flashed to Manual. Installing the donor ECU is riddled with problems, version/year mismatch and residual fault codes. You cannot VAG-COM this, it has to be done via ECU software re-installation (selected manual when flashing) or by a shop certified to flash ECU's. This can be done during the APR ECU flash procedure.

I owned the car to begin with, so doing the swap allowed me to update all of the bushings, shocks, etc. The results were awesome. Buying a used 6MT, then doing the updates would have cost more.

 

Did you swap engine and trans from the manual donor? If not, Did you modify the crank to accept manual trans throw out bearing/ clutch components while using the TIP engine?
