Big Brake Upgrade!
okie dokie, I did a little test, both the lugs and hub are ferrous...so the information that possibly the mixture of metals, I'd have to disregard that...
Then I had a "what if" moment...
You think if the spewing transmission fluid from a while back cause something chemical to happen in and around there?

hey emac and hiwords...I sure do appreciate your input here, so far in this thread...
best concensus I can get anywhere is that at some point someone over-tightened the lugs....is 90ftlb so far under any other manufacturer spec that some jackass at a tire shop ripped them? Or am I just another victim to a "known issue" that is not reported as a full on recall...a la fuel pump cam follower...what a scam, btw.
I almost can't wait to report back here with what official Audi shop bullshit tries to pass on me...
either way, I'm a betting man that I am out the cash for TWO hubs, in 2 months, and really no one to substantially blame except the audi engineers, which really doesn't seem like it should be right...for such a high performance, prestigious vehicle...:jerkoff:

Well, when I get new tires the guys at the shop definitely over tighten them, using their air wrenches, or whatever. But it's never caused any issues for me, other than I have to jump on the lug wrench to break them loose next time I need to take them off!
heh, no kidding
Well this is getting comical now, I got everything done as far as the pads go, got the repaired caliper on the back, and I'm then going back to the front to go ahead and replace the rotors with the slotted ones from the Big Brake upgrade kit that started this whole thread...
I beat the DriverSide rotor off, and go to place the new one....and the offset is all wrong. Won't fit. Good thing I keep waiting until the weekend to find this sh*t out...I guess it'll be Tuesday before I can even talk to anyone about getting the right parts.
If it wasn't for the fact that it would mean the car is just going to sit forever in the garage, I'd just give up on the whole damn thing

well, getting back on track...ECS sent me the entirely wrong rotors.
Probably get the right ones sorted out tomorrow...but they only got stock replacement parts on hand, no vented, slotted or drilled.
Convince me that I should wait another week + shipping for the vented, or I'm going with stock tomorrow.
what a f*cking mess.
I think I'll swing by the stealer tomorrow and see if they got 345mm with the correct offset in stock, I may just tell ECS to bite me...I thought from reading around here they are reputable, but looks like they hire from the same lot of jackass punks that Autozone does, don't know how to look up the right parts and really don't give a ****...let the next "tech" deal with the grumpy guy who's order got screwed.

final update...
ECS sent me the wrong rotors in the first place.
Too bad for the one tech that told me "yeh, you might have to remove the splash guard for the rotor to fit."
seriously????
so I lost 2 days in shipping alone arguing with those ***** over whether the parts they sent were indeed the parts THAT I ORDERED....
I had to leave work, wasted my lunch hour, just to take pics that showed they sent the wrong parts.
On the bright side, after arguing with them for 2 days, they sent me the correct parts, and everything went in a snap....
a 3 hour job, done in just under 3 weeks.
THANKS ECS :*******:
Now I can finally get my Audi to the Stealer to pay another $500 for faulty ******* hub threads
SWEET!

Hi
This company supplies good discounted tools. I got a brake rewind tool so that I didn't have to ask the missus for an extra pair of hands!

yup, that tool would have saved me some frustration. I finally rented one from Autozone, for free.
I see ECS has them for about 40$ also.
ECS is evil
they send me emails constantly with stuff I REALLY want to buy
