Buying first Audi
I'm looking for any suggestions and advise when buying my first Audi. I've never bought a higher end car before so on a learning curve. I'm thinking of an A4 2.0 turbo quattro, but hear things like tiptronic and direct injection. I meed to learn about these things and help this forum will give me a start.
I don't want to buy new. I've heard about problems w/Audis in certain model yrs. and it was recommended that I buy an '07 (B8?). I appreciate any help and please forgive my ignorance on the topic.
Also, interested in what those on this forum think is a fair price for this car (40,000 mi. or less). Should I get 200K mi. out of this car?
Thanks

an 07 is a B7 model.....the b8 model is the newest model that features those cool headlights
tiptronic - big fancy word for a clutchless ''manual'' transmission.....meaninng that where the park, reverse, neutral, drive selectors are to the left of the drive icon is a plus and a minus signs, when u put the car in tiptronic mode you control the upshifting and downshifting to a certain extent (obviously if ur redlining in second gear the tranny will shift into third eventually)
direct injection - big fancy words for the fuel injectors are put right in piston sleeve diretcly injecting fuel into the combustion chamber
buying new right now could be a realy good idea.....audi dealerships are trying to move the 08 A4's off the lot pretty much by any means necessary....this is prolly the only time where the customer has an advantage over the salesmen

Thank you. Appreciate the help. I wasn't looking for new, but will go to a couple of dealers to see if I can get a deal. Any thoughts on maitenance costs, reliability and durability. I keep cars a long time and want to get 200K mi. out of the car I buy.
for maintenance, you'd be covered under the audicare program for up to 75k miles.

reliability and durability is amazing. these cars are built properly.
nice choice on the 2.0T Quattro. the power and ride quality is amazing. sometimes i find myself in awe from it.

umm sounds like u can do basic matinence on ur car.....so change ur oil every 5000 with SYNTHETIC oil....it'll cost you about 20 bones a change if you do it yourself, if you bring it to the dealership its like 200 or something outrageous
things to watch out for would be your timing belt....audi says its good for 100k but im gonna replace mine at around 75 just to be safe ...thats something you don't want to mess around with
as long as you treat it well and don't do dumb things like forget to clean your air filter, or fill up with less then 92 you'll be fine
but from what u've written so far you seem responsible so good luck and def just ask around at the dealership you may be surprised at what you can get new
