Yes I am. The dealer did flush for the ECU and the air filter is brand new.

Thats interesting several people having the same issue. I own 99 A4 does almost same thing has misfires on start up only in temperatures under say 48 degrees and when its real cold starts then shuts off then car is flooded out. When its warm outside say 55 degrees starts and run fines. The only codes in computer are miss fires. I have changed the ignition module, mass air flow, plugs, ECT shows proper temperature, also car has proper ecm with current flash

I was having the same problem with my car in the cold weather. Dealer replaced the fuel pump and filter and the car starts normally now and does not idle nearly as roughly. Worth looking into...

For the original poster of this thread. Your problem is most likely the beather valve. Before the recall came out we used to get a wide range of symptoms for this. Whislting noises, A jerk or feeling like it was going to stall when coming to a stop, excessive oil around the fill cap, MIL On, MIL Off. Some would run fine, Some would barely run at all.

The best way to check. Try to remove the oil fill cap with engine running. If you can't get it off or the is very hard to remove then you have a bad breather. If this is the case, call your dealer because i believe the warranty for this was extended to 10/110,000.

There is a software update available

Over break i had a new fuel filter put in and the mechanic recommended running a cleaner through the injectors, so i let him do that. Also had the battery replaced because he said it was on its way out. Still have the same problem.

I will try the breather valve test today after class and give you an update

Thanks

I just went out to the car after letting it sit all night and pulled the oil cap right after starting it. There seemed to be some suction resistance and once the cap was fully removed, the engine shuttered and shut off.

What do u think?

Interesting video. My A4 ('07) had a bad (cold) start 3 years ago. It idled rough for about 15 seconds. I took it to Audi and it was a bad coil pack. Audi has a recall on these; insure that all your coil packs were updated. Also a bad PCV can cause running issues. My PCV went bad at 24tmls, had oil pushing up around the filler cap. I have read that A4's with the automatic trans have bad engine vibration, not sure if that is what is going on here though. Have you taken it to an Audi dealer?

I have the exact same issue on my 2006 a4, in my case, when it is really cold here in illinois it actually does not start!!! I bought a new battery 3 days ago because i thought my battery died because of the cold weather and use. Now, when come from work, i have to unplug one terminal of the battery so it will start in the morning, if i leave the battery fully connected it will not start in the morning and even when i unplug it, it barely starts (new battery) and then its very rough and shakes also rpms are high at idling and cycles up and down. WTF? Where is my STI? *Tear
