Default Coolant Leak 2006 2.0T

Hey guys, I have a coolant leak in my 2006 2.0T that has me stumped on where it's coming from. The coolant is seemingly leaking from the middle of the engine and running down the oil pan. I can't seem to tell if it's a water pump or radiator leak. Both parts look okay, hard to tell where the problem is.

Any help? Thanks!

yeah it's hard to tell but you're on the right track-either the hose clamps or the pump itself. either way, that's far too much work for me to handle so i would take it to the dealership. whatever you do, don't top off the coolant with prestone or whatever. use audi coolant.

See if you can find someone with a pressure tester (Amazon.com: Stant 12270 30 Pound Cooling System And Pressure Cap Tester: Automotive) similar to this and do the test. You should be able to find the leak and then decide your next move. If it's the WP then the major cost is the labor to do it. Considering they need to remove the timing belt you'll need to sit down when you hear the price. Hopefully it's only a bad hose clamp or a bad hose. Good luck.

Thanks for the help, hopefully it's the clamps.

Does anyone have a diagram of how the water pump fits to the engine so I can get an idea of which hoses to look at?

Thanks.

Would like to know if you were able to locate the leak. I currently have a leak that goes between the 2 belly pans(back of the engine). It is very difficult to trace up. Thanks.

Hey there. It ended up being the water pump. I was completely at a loss so we brought it into the dealer. Was told initially by the dealer that Audi water pumps are "bullet proof", ended up not being the case, lol.

Since the car was near 100k we ended up doing the pump and the timing bet. At a local shop I believe the cost was somewhere around $2,000.
