diverter valve

Default diverter valve

I recently had my check engine light come on and the code was
p0299. I have been told and found through some research that this probably has something to do with the diverter valve or diaphragm having a tear. Im not the most mechanically inclined person but can follow directions.

From what I have read this is a fairly simple fix. My question is: Can someone give me a link or some specific directions about how to fix this? I have a '07 A4 s-line 2.0t. Tips from someone who has done this or picture or diagram would also be great!

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

No pics but it is under the car and 2 or 3 Hex or Torx head bolts hold it on (Cant remember off hand). Drive up on ramps and you cant miss it once you pull the plastic skid cover. Super easy fix.

Im assuming its just a quick unscrew, replace, re-attach deal??? Would I be replacing the whole piece or just a seal? Forgive my ignorance...haha

RammerJammer,

THis is a really easy thing to fix yourself. I am in no way 'car mechanic inclined' but I was able to do this one myself. The hardest part of this whole thing is getting to the Diverter Valve. It is in the very front, passenger side. Here are the basic instructions:
1. Jack/lift/block the front end of the car up so you can get under it.
2. remove the plastic under engine guard (which in my opinion is a complete piece of $#!*).
3. Crawl under the front passenger side of the car and look up. You should see something that looks (on the outside) just like the new diverter valve you have. (Make sure you get the D version as others have said).
4. Reaching the screws to get the thing on and off was the hardest part. I must be a n00b, because it took me nearly 20 minutes to get the damned thing off. The screws are about 1 inch long, but I could only turn my wrench about an 1/8 of turn each time.
5. There are 3 screws to remove and the part will just come right off.
6. Put the new Diverter Valve in place and screw it back on.
7. put the undercarraige protector plastic back on the car.
8. Lower the car.

DONE!

Really easy. I was going to attempt doing my Cam Follower when I did this, but I decided against it. The whole bleeding of the fuel system scared me.
