Default DIY Emergency/Warning Triangle Mounting B7 Retrofit

So I used this as a guide (for reference/credits):
http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1665107

A couple differences, most of it is the same so I won't duplicate any info from the original thread linked to above, these are just the minor differences for the US B7.

a) Not the same trim/carpet/screws
b) No scoring on the back of the carpet
c) The triangle is a snug fit.

2) Remove (2) screws

2a) Pop glow-in-the-dark handle top off

2b) Remove ball & cable from handle and pop the handle out of the socket, remove screw

2c) Remove right-side screw

3) Pop off carpet

4) Measure and cut the carpet accordingly
(I measured where the holes were in the trunk lid then poked three holes in the carpet where those measurements were and cut out the proper sized holes for the mounting bracket, it's a good idea to do this with the triangle IN THE MOUNTING BRACKET, to make sure it will fit.

5) Reverse install trunk trim & carpet

Default Nice work, Thanks for the post

New guy question. Weren't these factory in older gen A4s? I just purchased a B7 and found it missing, but I take it they are no longer factory installed.

From the original thread:
For some unknown reason (maybe just to save a few dollars?), VW of America has asked that warning triangles be deleted from all cars imported to North America.
This is the most popular theory is to save a couple $. They haven't been in NA Audi's since 2005.

I dont think its about money.........its probably because alot of DUMB people in USA would misuse them. In EU thats used in Emergencies, in USA people would probably use it to keep street parking space.

A note here, I just did this to my B7 today. I used the following bracket instead:

8E5 860 285A 01C ($21 from genuineaudiparts)

Note that with this bracket, you do not need the inserts or screws, the bottom pegs snap into the mounting holes:
