Default Down Pipe

So I am looking to get a down pipe and then get the stage 2 flash. As far as the downpipe I see 2.5" and 3.0" I was wondering if one had an advantage over the other. A subaru guy said to get the 3.0" so I can upgrade the exhaust later but he is a subaru guy and I know our exhausts are pretty good stock.

As far as the chip goes I live in Cali and I have never seen 93 octane fuel? So is a stage 2 chip even possible?
Also I know Cali has weird emissions tests so I plan on keeping the old pipe and switching it out at tests.

Thanks for any replies also great stickies

K03 and K04 turbo's are plenty fine at 2.5 inch. Ebay has them cheap too.

There are places around CA that sell 100 octane, so you can blend it with 91 to get 93. But the octane and the stage are separate issues, you can run stage 2 on 91 octane.

i have my APR stage 1 set for 91 octane because it's the highest available in my area. you can get the tune(s) done specifically for whatever octane you want.
