DOWNGRADE Factory HID (Bi-Xenon) to Factory Halogen
I've found a lot of articles about UPGRADING, but I'm actually looking to DOWNGRADE. Not sure that's possible. I'm new here, but not new to Audi ownership. My nearly 15-year-old CPO Audi A4 Quattro is starting to show its age. Recently the car failed its state inspection for the first time. The failure is due in part to an "alignment and operation' issue with the factory HID Bi-Xenon light on the passenger side. I was recently told by the dealership where the vehicle was purchased that it would cost about $1,500 to repair and that parts would need to be ordered. That said, I am seeing online that the passenger headlight assembly is about HALF of that cost and comes in from Lithuania. For about $230, I can get a pair of OEM Halogen headlight assemblies and have a local body shop with foreign car experience do the install. What I don't know is if this is a PLUG-AND-PLAY type of repair or if there are some modifications that need to be done for my vehicle to work with the new halogen lights. I really just need to pass inspection and get some extra time before buying a new vehicle.
Thanks in advance of any useful responses!
