Fuel pressure crashes in low pressure supply - not pump, filter or sensor
I have an A4 B7 with the BWE 2.0T was working fine but I decided to do right thing and replace cam follower on HPFP. Got the job done fine but when i went to test drive car it starts fine runs smoothly but cuts out under acceleration. Logged in with VCDS and there is a P310B - 002 - Fuel Pressure Outside Specification - Intermittent. Frame freeze shows fault is logged once fuel pressure drops below 970mb in low pressure supply side. Have graphed fuel pressures using VCDS and it shows very clearly pressure dropping rapidly on low pressure supply under acceleration until it hits the 970mblow threshold when ECU must be cutting out causing engine to cut until pressure rises which happens when foot lifted from throttle. Graph also show high pressure side tracking exactly as it should until low pressure side pressure drops below 970mb threshold so seems HPFP working fine. Seemed straight forward something on low pressure side causing restricted fuel flow. Have done the logical things - swapped fuel pumps, new fuel filter, swapped low pressure sensor but none of these are the cause and problem persists unchanged. It seems likely it is something I have done whilst changing the cam follower but I didnt even have to disconnect low pressure fuel line as there was enough flexibility in the fuel line to allow HPFP to move back to slip new follower in. I am now at a bit of a loss as to what is causing restricted fuel flow the lines all look good no kinks or anything. I also have an A3 withthe AXX motor running great and when I VCDS it there is very little change in the fuel pressure on the low side so I am convinced restricted flow on low pressure is the problem with the a4 and is my problem. Does anyone have any experience with anything that could be causing restricted fuel flow on Low pressure line possible close to HPFP or throw any light on my issue
