fuel question...
hows it going all...im new to the site and well i just want to start off with a question...
so i was driving back home this weekend. and i stopped for gas. and i have to say i am not the most well versed in audis but i filled my car up with premium at a shell and when i got back in i started the car and it had a CEL on the dash. which worried me.
i guess my real question is that is it because the premium has 10% ethanol? or what? its weird also i want to throw out after that when i went past 70 mph it would start beepin of sorts. this is a first for me and i just need a little insight thanks.
also side note happy veterans day.

yeah you have to make sure to tighten up that gas cap.
i personally avoid ethanol blend like the plague. ethanol is no good for the valve seals and it draws in moisture in the air to the gas tank.

No telling why you have a CEL until you pull the codes.
I can't avoid ethanol due to government mandates, and while I'd rather not have it, it really hasn't caused drivability issues.
My experience has been that unless you have a serious issue it takes a little while for the CEL to show up. If bad gas threw the CEL immediatly, you likely would have drivability issues (if it would have run at all).
You do realize that you can set an alarm which dings when you exceed your set speed? I have set this by accident and wondered WTF?

Since your gas cap is part of the emissions system, yes, it can cause an emissions-related CEL if it's not on properly.
i too have had similar things happen with this.... started after i got a cel. so i got it checked ...fuel pressure too low..... had it checked out. never really got a good answer...... beside change the pump had other places (audi techs) check n they said its def not the pump... but sumthing is causing it to throw... never got around to ever really checking it got it off and on for like a half a year.. at about 60k.... changed the follower which had almost no wear on it at all... fuel filter... and still everyonce in a while it would go off. then after bout 3 starts dissappear... started watchin my gas.. used shell v power for bout...a year and it went away when it did come back...... about a year ago. i sarted using sunoco. never had it come back on.... theres alot of talk bout these problems.... on here with this model...i had techs look and they said nothing with the cam or wear and thing bout that... i think i might just have to change the pump.. since they do go and i have bout 95k now...... if i ever got it i checked it n if it was the fuel pressure. i just let it go...95k. only had the pcv valve and valve cover gasket changed on it so i cant complain... i noticed lexus and acura put out a recall for the fuellin systems....... ima go out on a limb and say i dont think audi will when it took them till last year to fix the 02-03 model probs. or by the time they do u wont own the car no more
I have a 3.0 V6, and my dealership said that running 87 will not harm it, but it won't perform well during racing situations. Is this true? I've not tried 87 octane yet, but that's what they filled it with when I purchased it, and it drove well on that tank full.
