good cold air intake?
^^a mod is a mod, yes, and i don't care what people want to do with their car.
but there's gotta be like over half of the 2.0T's out there have CAI & Forge DV's and neither are needed, and neither add any performance and paying over $350 for CAI and $250 for DV, that's $600 people are paying for either the "look" or "sound" of it.... kinda silly.
buy a K&N ($50), buy a revision D OEM DV ($110) and you are set my friend! even if you chip it!
save your money for a larger turbo, IC or exhaust if you want to see performance gains

I hear ya, but if that's all people are looking for " the "look" or "sound" then it's not much different than any other modification that's done for aesthetics. People use springs to lower their car, some go the coil route, and never go Auto-X or use the adjustments available to them.
On a side note, that new OEM DV is on my list!!!!

THE LOOK?!!?! bahahaha when have u parked ur car and then opened up your hood to show people what u have under the engine....19'' rims may be slightly impratical but at least you are able to see them the whole time,
i had the stock DV on my 2008 b7 and im not sure if i had the new and improved DV or the old one but 3 days after i chipped my car my DV diaphragm cracked....i went with forge only because it looked like you could line the engine bay with c4 explosives and that little piece of metal would hold up (also...i was a dumass and bought the 250 dollar little guy....2 weeks later i went to waterfest where it was 175....FML)
also my anger for the carbonio intake goes beyond the fact that it's completely useless.....its currently the MOST EXPENSIVE useless thing that you can bolt on to your car thats useless. i mean i have never really seen a CAI go above 250 or 300 but 400 bones?! thats like 400 crispy chicken nuggets i'd rather be eating (wendy's plug....sorry guys)
also i would like to think that most people who bought the carbonio intake did not do it for the ''look'', be honest you thought it would gain you some power, in addition to the fact that at one point it seemed like everyone and thier mother was purchasing the intake

I have not opened up my stock airbox yet.
But is there some restriction in the airbox?
On my 2004 GLI stock air box,,,,it used about 3/4 of the filter, for air to the engine.,the other 1/4 of the filter would be used if the first 3/4 of the filter was plugged up & would get it's air from a spring loaded alternate door & suck in hot underhood engine heat that was close to the hot turbocharger..
I modified the air box so the engine would use the complete air filter for getting it's air.
On the spring loaded alternate door,,,,I removed that made a 90 degree elbow & ran flex hose to the front of the car for additional cool air.
It seemed to help & the parts added was very minimal costs & minimal labor.
I ran the GLI @ a 3000+ ft altitude track w/a low boost Neuspeed chip w/a K&N filter but stock air box only one time ,slow launch & ran 15.3 @ 95 MPH 60 ft was horrible like 2.3 IIRC.

The Carbonio is way out of my price range anyway. But for those that can afford it, it's their prerogative if they want to buy it. I could nit pick and bag on mods alot of people have on their car that I deem are worthless. But why?!? If they've done the research and know a CAI will net you a gain of 1hp and they still want to buy it so be it....... If they could care less about the 1hp and just like the sound it gives out fine. Not my car, not my money.
your turbo only spools up as fast as your cat will let it air filters don;t really have anything to do with as much as your cat does....
to answer ur restricted airbox, umm the air filter itself is pretty restrictive....and about the size of a phonebook i would def recomend dropping a k&n air filter in there or another type of performance filter....i can;t remember the name but there is another company that makes a race filter (idk the difference i never did much research on it) but its made for the b7

If you have a bad flowing or plugged filter,,,it will definately slow down your turbo spool.
Why do you see race cars w/no filter or @ least a metal screen over the turbo inlet,,,,,,,no restriction,,,,,,better/faster spoolup.
If you install a [ small ] throttle body on your car,,, that will slow down the turbo spool up time..,if it is really small,it will limit your boost pressure as well.
Two cents thrown
