Default Help! What is this random Headlight Caution on my 2006 Audi A4?

Bought a 2006 Audi A4T Quattro, and I got a Right Dipped Headlight. I replaced the ballast on the headlight myself and saved about $500. Attached is the picture I took with my iPhone, can anyone help me in solving this problem?

Yes, that symbol means your automated aiming and adaptive feature is mal-functioning. This means the lights will not move with the steering wheel, and will not adjust for vehicle load. I got that symbol and a dis-connect of the battery took care of it. If it doesn't work for you, see below.

Make sure you didn' force the lamp housings when you changed the bulbs. Also make sure the sensor at the right front wheel suspension upper joint hasn't been knocked off.

Default Random Caution Light

Audi Dan,

I appreciate the help. I disconnected the battery, but it still came on. I'll check out the sensor. I found that it has a Code 55 that needs to be reset with a VAG-COM device that I wish I owned. How much do you think it cost for a mechanic to reset and re-level my headlights?

Thanks again for the help. It's people like you that help save my wallet from getting tore apart by the Audi dealership.

Dan,

Looks like I'll have to take it into the dealership so they clear the Code (55), and hook up the VAG-COM device. How much am I looking to pay for them to "Re-Level" the adaptive lighting system. I just don't want to go in there and get quoted something beyond ridiculous.

How long did you disconnect the battery for when you got the caution light?

I got that the other day on my A3. I was raining really hard and it was cold ~40 F after the engine bay warmed up it went away. Figured it was damp wiring. Hasn't come back.
