Some items like PCV and DV are preventitive maintainence. Sometimes you do not even know you have a leak or loss of power until it is replaced. So no light sometimes. You have an 08 and may have the better DV but it is good to pull it off and check. It is easy.

Default used audi questions

I am about to buy an 06 Audi a4 2.0t with 60k miles. I am inquiring about possible stuff i should check before buying it. For example, cams and followers?
Thanks!!

I just had my CPO car in for service complaining of oil consumption (2 quarts in 8K) and stumbling/surging at low throttle. They did part 1 of the oil consumption test, "replaced faulty breather valve" and "pressure regulating valve". All for no charge. The car seems to be driving much better although I haven't driven it much yet. My questions are:

- Could the things that they fixed have anything to do with oil consumption?
- How do these 2 repairs map over to the items mentioned in the sticky? The nomenclature doesn't seem to be exactly the same.

I'm pretty sure the guy said that the pressure regulator valve was for the turbo. If nothing else, I got a free oil change out of it! I'm at 58,000 miles and have to go back in for part 2 of the oil consumption thing in 600 to 1000 miles. From what I've read here, I won't fail the test. Perhaps since it's a CPO and I just bought it from them, they will do more?

Sounds to me like they replaced your PCV and DV (although, I've never heard it referred to as a "pressure regulating valve" before), both of which are known failure points.

If you post the part numbers they listed on your service invoice, I'm sure some of us would recognize them.

Interesting. No part number listed for "replaced faulty breather valve" and I can tell you that the only part number on there is not a DV. The DV part number is 06H145710D (I just replaced mine a couple months ago).

Well, I hope it solves your problems!

Yeah, I see that now. At first, it seemed like they did two different things, but I think that's it. Just the PCV. I still have to find time to install my BSH PCV...too much going on lately.

Thanks for the analysis. With a 2008 would I have a Rev D DV?
